Dublin Climate Change Conference (DCCC)

This was a college brief to create an identity for a hypothetical conference on climate change in Dublin. Realising that the weather is always a topic of conversation in Ireland, I designed a system of weather icons that could be applied across the whole identity, from billboards to business cards.

I used the icons to emphasise the potential dangers of global warming, whereby climates alter, resulting in unfamiliar weather conditions. I cut the icons out of environmentally friendly stock, in order to keep printing (costs and environmental impact) at a minimum. The colour palette for the identity reflected the colours of the icons.

The weather icons were used across signage, stationery and advertisements and their tactile qualities provoked interaction, reminding users of the physicality of climate change. Naturally, the weather aided the identity, as it remained as unpredictable as ever.

The logo for Dublin Climate Change Conference.

The logo for Dublin Climate Change Conference was inspired by toxic fumes produced by a car, a factory, or people.

Some of the weather icons I designed for the identity.

The icons were applied to posters with misfitting captions, emphasising drastic changes in climate.

The icons were used for advertisements which depicted eclectic weather maps.

Stationery was kept as simple as possible, with vibrant colours, matching the icons, conveying the identity.

I also designed some very simple invitations to the Climate Change Conference.
